I was born in Colorado on the unceded territory of the Ute tribe, and now live in what is now known as Lafayette, Colorado — traditional homelands of the Arapahoe and Cheyenne peoples. My story has taken many paths and pivots - both literally (around the world) and also figuratively (in my career).

With a background in environment and development, Genae Lako Communications was founded after I moved from crafting visions and design from the physical space in floral design to the digital space in communications, branding, and organizational identity. I often draw inspiration from this diverse background that encompasses not only floral design but also my experience as a doula, supporting women in childbirth, and international sustainable development. I view communications as strategically and holistically tied to human capacity, process, and relationship with one another and with the world around us.

I consider myself a professional adventurer and lifelong learner, and strive to be a helper: to tell the stories of people who are on the ground, doing the work that is changing the world in real and meaningful ways. Those stories create connection and give purpose.

• I’ve lived (or traveled to) over 20 countries around the world.

• Most Thursday mornings before work you will find me hiking to a mountaintop in the Flatirons above Boulder

• I attended the University of Washington, where I earned a Master of Communications and Digital Media

• I have three kids that keep me adventuring and working hard, even when I tire
